 Crafty Bones

Crafty Bones

I have such a love for all things fibre related. I have made it my goal to show others the beauty that is our industry. Creating gorgeous patterns that people want to make, having high end soles for slippers or bases for handmade bags. Using a crochet chart to show off how intricate and gorgeous crochet can be and allowing people to show them off on my merch.

Our work involves our need for a creative outlet.
Since a young age we have both had a interest in art and design
Gingersnap gives us opportunity to express just that !

We enjoy working in different mediums as the outcome is never the same , and with
that the creativity pours.

We strives to source most of supplies within Canada but that proves to be a challenge
as of late , we will however continue to research with regards to this matter.
The joy our items bring to others is what makes GS so special to us , and we are
teaching our Grandchildren our trade in hopes that one day they will continue on if
that’s what they desire.

Her Leather

HerLeather Co.

I love, love, love to create and make things. I've always loved natural materials such as linen, wool and leather, but anything made in leather always takes my breath away and I always have to feel and check it out. I tend to recycle, repurpose and mend before buying new. I have a mix of re-purpurposed and new leather and turn these simple pieces into unique and beautiful items. I’ve always wanted to learn to knit and this past Christmas I had the opportunity to take some classes. I’ve made a few things and am excited to make more. Knowing more about knitting and what items are used has helped me understand what features I need to include in my bags.

Maple & Rose

Hello! I'm Jenni! I'm a Journeywoman cabinetmaker turned work at home mom. After my 2 sons were born I wanted to find a way to stay home with them; so I decided to take my education in woodworking and become a maker! I have been specializing in laser engraving since 2015. .

Misneach

Misneach

Angela Long, is the designer and maker at Misneach. She's a lawyer by trade but a creative soul at heart. She currently splits her time between her bag making studio and teaching law at the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Common Law.

Misneach (pronounced mish-noch) is Gaelic for courage. Starting your own creative business takes a lot of courage, making this the perfect name!I Angela lives in North Glengarry, Ontario, Canada, which has Scottish roots, back to the Highland Clearances. It's also home to the North American Pipe Band Championships, which takes place every August long weekend. She has deep Scottish heritage on her mother's side; the MacLeods on the Isle of Skye, amongst other clans. Her husband is a bagpiper with the Glengarry Pipe Band. They spend their summers travelling to and competing in Highland Games in Ontario and beyond!

Angela's Celtic inspired bags are all handmade, one at a time, in her home studio just outside of Maxville, Ontario. She's sourced Harris Tweed and tartan directly from the weavers in Scotland. She likes to support other small businesses and most of her other supplies, like leather, fabric and hardware from a variety of small, independent businesses across Canada.

Neatnik

Neatnik Yarns

Neatnik Yarns are hand dyed yarns that are anything but ordinary! Always one to search out the elusive bright, variegated colourways, when Angela (the human behind Neatnik Yarns) started dyeing her own yarns in 2018 it made perfect sense for her to gravitate towards the biggest, boldest and baddest yarns she could find!

Since then, Angela has been on a fantastical fibre adventure. Already at home knitting and crocheting, her spinning wheel arrived right as the pandemic hit in March of 2020, giving her time to play and hone her skills creating art yarn. By the fall of 2020 she was selling hand dyed fibre for spinning and creating Wooly Wall Hangings as a way to channel her love for her colourful and chunky art yarn. In December 2020 she bought her first rigid heddle loom. And that was it. Now she has three.
Since discovering weaving, Angela has expanded her yarn bases to include cotton and non-superwash bases, with the goal of making all the things with her yarns! Whether you are a knittier, crocheter, weaver, tapestry maker or hand knitter, she’s got a yarn for you!

Ochre Lea

Ochre Lea

Cate Kuzik is an Edmonton based artist with a passionate connection to traditional handmade printmaking techniques during this increasingly digital age and is the creative force the drives Ochre Lea (“oh-kerr-lee”). Never accused of using to many neutrals, her work reflects her enthusiasm for boisterous colour combinations and often employs hand-drawn, carved typography with a bold graphic aesthetic. Cate’s creative energy and down-to-earth, highly approachable nature is immediately evident in her fun minimal leather creations.

I work with good-quality fibres and textiles, and I am also keen to reuse, recycle and re-purpose, so many of my creations contain recycled fabrics, linings and batting (all cleaned of course), sourced from local thrift stores.
