Kim graduated from Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Fashion Design, minoring in marketing. She has always had a passion for colour and artistic creations, particularly in the wool and textile industries.
Prior to opening Little Blue Fibre Studio in June of 2020, she had spent several years in health and safety with a focus on reducing occupational exposures to hazardous materials, some of which, interestingly enough, are fibres (ask her about her asbestos collection!) Kim loves felting, quilting, weaving, and rug hooking and is always interested in learning new techniques for anything fibre related.
Learn the wonderful (and simple!) technique of needle felting with just wool and a felting needle!
In this workshop, Kim will guide students through the steps it takes to create a needle felted donut. Not only are they gluten free, but they make a really cute pin cushion!
Students will also:
- learn why certain fibres felt better than others,
- learn about different needle felting techniques, and
- try different sizes of felting needles to see the effect they have on the wool.
Kim will also discuss needle felting safety.
Workshop supplies include:
- felting needles
- wool roving in various colours
- foam stabilizer
No experience necessary.
Recommended age is 12 and up.
